Our CSR
approach

Our commitments to increasingly responsible management of the company include the following four pillars in particular

Marotte's Environmental Footprint & CSR Approach
Raising our customers’ awareness
Our CSR Approach

Raising our customers' awareness of the environmental footprint of their orders

Raising our customers' awareness is a key initiative in reducing the environmental footprint of the projects they assign to us, and indirectly the environmental footprint of Marotte itself.

In 2024, we finalised the development of a carbon calculator dedicated to our business in collaboration with an engineering school. This enables us to share the estimated carbon footprint of a project with our customers right from the design phase. This objective data not only gives us a sense of responsibility, but also opens the door to discussions on potential alternatives: local wood species, water-based varnishes, paint-free cases, etc.

This tool is gradually being developed into a full-scale life-cycle analysis to provide our customers with comprehensive information. In this way, environmental aspects can become decision-making criteria that are just as important as aesthetics or price.

Responsible wood purchasing
Our CSR Approach

Responsible wood purchasing

Even if the labels have certain limitations, they give us access to relevant tracking information. In 2023, 83% of our wood volumes were PEFC certified. As far as possible, the Marotte team makes every effort to visit the forests from which the wood comes and to ensure that sustainable management is actually being implemented.

Our aim for the future is to increase these volumes by continually raising our customers' awareness of the importance of using local wood.

Our CSR Approach

Eco-design of our products

Marotte is not simply a producer, but a partner in the development of its customers' projects. We believe it is our responsibility to offer the companies that place their trust in us solutions that reduce the environmental footprint of their products.

This approach is akin to an ongoing research and development effort that takes all our processes into account. Here are just a few of the initiatives we have implemented:

  • Design and conception: glue-free assembly of enclosures, separability of the various materials used in our products so that they can be recycled, cushioning systems designed without the use of foam.
  • The use of low-impact inputs: water-based paints and varnishes, bio-sourced inks, etc.
  • Reducing to a minimum the waste generated by our various manufacturing processes and recycling all so-called irreducible residues

Employee safety and quality of life
Our CSR Approach

Safety and quality of life at work for our employees

In a wood industry that is often accident-prone, one of the priorities of Marotte's social and governance approach is the constant prevention of accidents and near-accidents in the workplace. With a severity rate of just 0.5% in 2023, our challenge is to succeed in maintaining an equivalent performance each and every year.

Training is therefore at the heart of our approach to reducing occupational risks: making workstations safe, fire-fighting, gestures and postures, etc. These subjects are regularly discussed in teams and at the level of each employee's work area.

Quality of life at work also depends on a pleasant environment. In 2023, to celebrate its 90th anniversary, Marotte inaugurated a new 2,600 m22 factory designed around the circulation and interaction of employees. It has recently been enhanced by the monumental works of the artist Philippe Baudelocque that have been created in the heart of the workspaces.
